Who We Are
In 1964, Ed and Margie Imo opened a small pizza shop on the south side of St. Louis with nothing but a used pizza oven, a family recipe, and an unshakeable belief that great food brings people together. What started as a neighborhood staple quickly became a city-wide obsession.
The secret? Provel cheese — a creamy, smoky blend unique to St. Louis — layered over a cracker-thin crust and topped with the freshest ingredients. Decades later, that same recipe and that same spirit still live in every box that leaves our kitchen.

Our Journey
From one oven in South St. Louis to a landmark pizza institution — here's how we got here.
Ed and Margie Imo open the doors of the original Imo's Pizza on Thurman Avenue in south St. Louis. Using a second-hand oven and a family recipe, they serve their first cracker-thin pizza to the neighborhood.
Word of mouth spreads like wildfire. Imo's opens its second location in Affton, MO — and the signature square-cut Provel pizza becomes a local legend. The Imo family hires their first non-family team members.
The franchise model launches, allowing passionate local owners to bring Imo's to their neighborhoods. By the end of the decade, 30+ locations dot the greater St. Louis metropolitan area.
Imo's is featured in national food media as the definitive St. Louis pizza experience. The brand surpasses 50 locations and introduces catering services to serve weddings, corporate events, and community gatherings.
Imo's launches online ordering and a mobile-friendly platform, making it easier than ever to get your favorite pizza. Delivery zones expand across the region, bringing the taste of Imo's to your door.
Imo's celebrates six decades of serving St. Louis with over 90 locations and more than 1 million pizzas served annually. The next generation of the Imo family continues to honor the founding recipe while embracing new favorites and flavors.

David ensures that every one of our 90+ locations operates at peak performance. His background in supply chain management keeps our ingredients fresh and our delivery times fast.
Community Relations Manager
Born and raised in St. Louis, Sarah leads Imo's community partnerships, school fundraisers, and neighborhood sponsorships — living out the belief that business success means giving back.
